Duct: Duct was our 2006 entry to the TokyoPop Rising Stars of Manga (RSOM) competition. Previous entry Mod hadn't earned us a place in the top seven entries, but Duct landed us firmly in the top fifteen. As finalists, we had Duct displayed on the RSOM page for people to vote on it. Sadly, we didn't make it through.
Sue certainly felt that her artwork had come along; from my (layman's) point of view, the artwork had a certain depth to it that perhaps lacked before. The scripting was a joint affair, for once; Sue came up with the concept, and I helped flesh it out. It was the first thing we'd planned in such a way, and it paved the way for later manga.
From my side of things, the toning also improved greatly; using less screentone, but using it in better places, was a vital learning curve in the making of this manga. There were also a few caffeine-fuelled late nights, including one final 3am burst on a work night... ouch.
